Fanmi Lavalas demands the resignation of Michel Martelly
Leaving out of the Saint-Jean Bosco Church in Port-au-Prince, a showing of many hundreds of Fanmi Lavalas supporters, dissidents of the current administration, rapidly took their march through the different famous zones, hoping to grow their numbers, and were finally joined by numerous executives and pioneers of Fanmi Lavalas.
Armed with pictures of former president of the republic, the exiled Jean Bertrand Aristide, they shouted censure at the corruption rife throughout the administration and the poor living state of the populace. The situation, they expressed, continues to crumble and political mistreatment continues. The group chanted uncongenial comments about the Haitian Head of State, and largely requested his acquiescence to resign and to hold general elections this year.
The system of Checks and balances doesn't work in Haiti
Last week, the Government of Michel Martelly made it public and to the surprise of many that his government is broke and doesn't have any more money. The government did not feel that there was a need to be more specific and to provide the numbers.
In a system of checks and balances which Haiti supposedly has, each of the three branches of government can limit the powers of the others to make sure that the power is balanced between them. The three branches are not independent of one another, each has the necessary powers to check and balance the operations and power of the others.
Martelly-Lamothe believe in Job creation, with more than 40 Ministers
Our government wants to remain true to its idea of of Job creation by increasing the number of Ministers and Secretaries in its Government. As a result of the new cabinet Reshuffle in Haiti, we now have more than 40, fully employed individuals; that is between Ministers and Secretaries of States.
Who said the the Government of Martelly-Lamothe doesn't believe in Job creation?
The business of Government or "Dirigen" in Haiti, leading the way to full employment in Haiti.
The government is likely to run into some problems with these new positions just created in the government. Where will the money come from to pay for this new positions? As a remark, the Executive increased the number of these ministers without the consultation of the Haitian Parliament.
His Holiness Pope Francis to meet Michel Martelly
God must, indeed, be smiling down on Haiti. This would be evident even if the recent appointment of one of the country's own priests as a cardinal were the only backing for the claim. However, His Holiness Pope Francis had a scheduled meeting with Haitian President Michelle Martelly on February 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.
The Pope officially appointed Haitian Cardinal, Chibly Langlois to the ranks of Cardinal on February 22, 2014 at an ordinary public consistory, which is the rite in which new Cardinals are selected by the Pope. This was at St. Peters Basicilla in Vatican City. During this inauguration, Langlois, who is also the Bishop of Les Cayes, was made His Eminence Cardinal Chibly Langlois.
Pope Francis received President Michel Martelly in private audience
Haitian President Michel Martelly's recent tour of Europe was timed to coincide with Cardinal Chibly Langlois'(Haiti's first cardinal) induction into the College of Cardinals. Martelly was granted an audience with Pope Francis after a presentation of the Haiti delegation was made to him. The delegates each received a blessing from Francis: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Pierre-Richard Casimir; Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Haiti to the Holy See, Karl Henry Guiteau; Special Counsellor to the Presidency, Gregory Mayard-Paul; and President of the Senate, Simon Desras Dieuseul.
After the introductions, President Martelly and Pope Francis exchanged symbolic tributes. Martelly presented Francis a bronze dove of peace, and he in turn gave Martelly the Angel of Peace medal. He also gave him the Aparecida. As a courtesy gift for the First Lady he gave her the Gaudiam Evangelii.

The U.S President Barack Obama, on 6 February, 2014, has appreciated Haiti's progress toward delayed legislative election and renewed America's promise to assist in the re-structural program on cleaning up of the 2010 earthquake damage. This was the first official sit-down between President Barack Obama and President Michel Martelly. The U.S President at the start of this Oval Office meeting has said, he was happy because many international aids flowed to the country since the tormenting earthquake hit Haiti four years ago at magnitude 7.0 and killed around 300,000 people and left 1.5 million Haitians homeless.

A close friend of President Michel Martelly has been arrested as he was implicated in the kidnapping of an important businessman.
According to Radio Lakansyel, Woodly Ethéard also known as "Sonson Lafamilia" has been arrested for his implication in the kidnapping of businessman Samy Azzi.
The report indicated that the kidnapping of businessman Samy Azzi took place on February 17, 2014 by a gang led by Woodly Ethéard alias Sonson Lafamilia

Fanmi Lavalas changes course, now wants Michel Martelly out
The Lavalas Political Party must admit this: Moise Jean Charles has demonstrated that he is more stable than the hierarchy of the Lavalas Party, including Maryse Narcisse and team. After they publicly announced their distance with Moise Jean Charle and Arnel Belizaire, joined the table of inter-Haitian dialogue, they finally realized that Moise Jean Charles was right after all. Fanmi Lavalas changed course, calling for general elections.

As part of their new position, Fanmi Lavalas announces a big demonstration for Thursday, February 27, to demand the organization of general elections this year.

The Haitian President arrived in Washington yesterday (February 4th, 2014) to finally meet with the American President Barack Obama. He will spend 4 days there and is expected to meet some high level members of the American Government.
On Wednesday, he will meet Secretary of State John Kerry at the State Department, the "Congressional Black Caucus and in the evening will attend a dinner hosted by Senator Bill Nelson of Florida at the Hilton Hotel.
On Thursday, Martelly will meet the American President Barack Obama as well as the U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden.
