Lesly Martelly, Cousin of President Michel Martelly shot two times

The Insecurity in Haiti does not discriminate. A cousin of President Michel, Lesly Martelly, has become the latest victim of insecurity in Haiti as he was shot by a gunmen during an attempted robbery in Delmas 2, Port-au-Prince.

The shooting incident took place Tuesday, December 18, 2012

According to Radio Kiskeya, the bandits opened fire on Lesly Martelly to rob his car. Martelly was taken to the hospital immediately where he had to undergo surgery. The victim is not in dangeras reported by government officials.

Michel Martelly National Education Plan: A Success Or Failure?

The National Education Plan, a program initiated by President Michel Martelly in 2011 to provide free education to all Haitian kids, have been criticized over and over again. This is not surprising because of the lack of progress caused by the program.

A lot of people might have been asking where the money from the program has gone?

Why is it that many children are still unable to study and why teachers are not paid properly?

Different organizations and individuals concerned about the program have aired their opinions and they all centered on the education plan's failure. But before one can determine whether the program failed or succeeded, it is necessary to understand the program and hear people's opinions about it.

Moise Jean-Charles - Michel Martelly per diem expenses $20,000 a day fo travel

President Michel Martelly's administration has been faced with a series of controversies recently. One of the most recent issues is an allegation made by a Haitian senator from the country's North department, Moise Jean-Charles, regarding the President's lavish travel expenses.

Earlier this month, Senator Jean-Charles gave a speech in a Lavalas family party's rally in Brooklyn, New York and an interview to a Haitian newspaper, claiming that Martelly, his family and his staff were wrongly and excessively spending Haiti's money when traveling to other countries that amounted to millions of dollars. This included expensive aircraft rentals, vehicle buying, and unreasonably big withdrawals from the country's central bank for questionable purposes.

Will we ever see the creation of a CEP under Michel Martelly

We have three members; we have now nine members. Wait a minute, we are back to three members. Should we create a Permanent, Temporary or a "Conjunctural" Electoral Council?

Members of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) decided on Friday to resume the process of appointing their 3 members of the Judiciary, to serve on the Permanent Electoral Council (CEP). This is following the controvercy on the way in which they nominated their previous members. Many members of the Haitian society, including political parties, members of the legislative branch, and others strongly condemned the process. Some even asked for the resignation of the president of the CSPJ, , whom they feel was appointed illegally into his position.

Thousands of People in Cap-Haitian in the Street against Michel Martelly

On Friday, September 21, 2012, thousands of people took to streets in the second city of Haiti, Cap-Haitian, to demonstrate against Martelly - Lamothe government. Barricades made of tires, stones and garbage were erected in several areas of the city. Traffic was difficult in many areas and in the neighborhood of La Fossettete and Cite Lescot where the tires were burning, impossible.

The people demonstrating were throwing slogans to show their dissatisfaction with the current policy of the government. They chanted against recent increase in food price and government corruption. Some of the people in the crowd were asking for Martelly to leave the government.

CSPJ just voted to break-up the CEP in Haiti

The Superior Council of Judicial Power (CSPJ) just voted to break up the Permanent Electoral Council created by that they just created. It was reported by Radio Vision 2000 that 5 members of the CSPJ voted to get ride of the Contested CEP.

A total of 6 members of the Permanent Electoral Council have already been appointed. Me Josué Pierre-Louis was appointed President of that new CEP.

As you may remember, the decision for the establishment of the Electoral Council was not supported by many members of the society. Paul Evans said that President Martelly is plunging the country into a crisis. Rosny Desroches called it a "serious error" the decision of the Executive to form the CEP without the representatives of Parliament .

Samuel Madistin denounced T-Mick as being paid $50, 000 cash per Month

The son of President Michel Martelly has been denounced by Haitian lawyer Samuel Madistin who accused the Haitian government of nepotism for paying his son T-Micky $50,000 a Month.

He reported on Radio Vision 2000 that T-Micky receives $5,000 per concert and is being booked for communal events throughout the country. He is paid cash money by the National Palace, while groups like Tropicana, T-Vice and Djakout don't make that kind of money.

Samuel Madistin told Vision 2000 Anchorwoman Marie Lucie Bonhomme that the numbers were confirmed.

The Haitian lawyer will probably have to show in court where he found these numbers to accuse the president of Nepotism and Favoritism.

A wave of Anti-government protest in in Cap-Haitian and Cayes

The population has been until recently very patient with the Haitian government. In the mean time, the Martelly - Lamothe government has been trying to get the economic engine of Haiti running but to little success so far. This week, the second largest city, Cap-Haitian, and the third largest city, Les Cayes, have demonstrated publically their frustration with the current government.

Hundreds of people took to the streets in the city of Cap-Haitian on Wednesday to protest against the deterioration of their living conditions. Some of the protesters denounced the recent behavior of the government, calling it continuous propaganda campaign

This is true, the name Tet kale now means the newest political party in Haiti. This is one more in a land where political parties have reached an epidemic proportion.

According to Justice Minister Jean Renel Sanon on Thursday, the new party called the Haitian Tet Kale Party was registered at the Ministry of Justice and is in fact operational

Michel Martelly and Bishop Pierre-Andre Dumas in Anse-a-Veau

In July, Haitian President Martelly, along with Bishop Pierre-Andre Dumas and Food for the Poor Representative Daniel Rouzier, visited a village located in Nippes Department's Anse-à-Veau that was built for the displaced victims of the 2010 earthquake and the various floods in the department. It was a project done by the NGO Food for the Poor where about sixty homes were built. The trio also launched the town's new Sainte Anne Polytechnic School during their visit.

The Martelly administration has been launching several projects for the development of Haiti's economy and for the welfare of all Haitians, especially the victims of the devastating 2010 earthquake. It has also urged for the decentralization of the government's power and resources to local governments and smaller public sectors in order to extend its public service to the smallest of communes and villages.
