Earlier this month, Godson Orelus was officially given his new position and office in a ceremony at the PNH Police Academy. It was attended by Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, Minister of Justice and Public Security Jean Renel Sanon, several high-ranking officials of the PNH, civil and religious officials and personalities, as well as the representatives of several international institutions, organizations, and other nations.
The new director stated upon his formal inauguration that he was aware of the factors that contribute to the dissatisfaction and the lack of motivation of PNH officers and staff and the instability of PNH's organizational structure and mismanagement, which he promised to fix and change as soon as possible.
Haitian President Michel Martelly personally has asked Director Godson Orelus to reestablish and strengthen the credibility and the image of the country's police in order to effectively resolve and lessen the instances of crime and ensure the safety of Haiti's citizens. Orelus is given high expectations as PNH's new director, having served Haiti's police force for 17 years.
