How to Deal with Toxic Relatives

In another way, how to avoid fighting with some family members you know will get you upset

The holidays are nearly here, and that means get-togethers with family and friends. These can be joyous occasions or oppressive ones. It all depends on how you handle the difficult personalities of immediate or extended family members. They are the ones most likely to affect your mood negatively.

It's important to understand how others' moods can affect us, especially our relatives. The principle to keep in mind when dealing with difficult personalities is you don't need to tolerate their bad behavior. By allowing their negativity to affect your mood, you subject yourself to psychological abuse and physical harm to your health. To protect and take care of yourself, be honest but don't judge them.

Haiti to reinforce public structures, making them earthquake resistant

The United Nations plans to reduce vulnerability of some buildings in Haiti against future earthquake threats. This will include Haitian schools, hospitals, and some selected buildings.

"Evite miyò pase mande padon."

This plan recently approved by the Interim Haiti Reconstruction Commission, came out as a result of a discussion between Haiti minister of Interior, Paul Antoine Bien-Aime, UNDP Senior Country Director Jessica Faieta, and UNDP seismologist Eric Calais.

According to authorityies, the goal is to reduce impacts in earthquake-prone areas. They improve to improve resiliency of the buildings in the poor areas in Haiti.

Haitian Woman, Cecilia Laurent, oldest Woman in the World at 115 Years

According to her birth certificate, Cecilia Laurent was born on January 31, 1896 in Croix des Missions, Haiti. She is a survivor of the 2010 Haiti earthquake that destroyed her home. Cecilia, or "Gran" as her family and all those who come to be in contact with her would call her, has been living in Canada since the 2010 earthquake.

Cecilia Laurent experienced the American Occupation in Haiti. She also was alive during the first and second world wars as well.

She has six children and many grand children and even more great grand children. Her oldest child was 96 years old in 2011.
