Steve Octavien, American football player with Haitian Roots

Octavien joined Illinois instead of his own Naples Lely High School and played for three seasons. He could only manage to play 4 matches for William Rainey Harper College in the year of 2004 because of soulder injury. Still he earned his rank at No. 4 linebacker in junior college in that year. Besides, he was a track standout of the college. He earned a position in Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Academic Honor Roll in 2005.

Steve Octavien graduated from Nebraska in 2007 in Sociology. He was one of the 20 Huskers to be graduated in the subject that year. In 2006, he played the first three games but missed the next four due to sustained injuries. However, he appeared in all the games in 2007 and led his team in tackles. Before he joined Nebraska he also went to North Carolina and Central Florida.

Steve Octavien was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs after the conclusion of national draft in 2008. Octavien mentioned it as the best opportunity that he could have had at that time as injury was always accompanying him.

Steve was also named as Nebraska Defensive Most Valuable Player and Honourable-Mention All-Big 12 in 2007.

Though Steve Octavien never visited Haiti, he has several relatives in the country and was worried during the earth-quake in 2008. The Cowboys player showed his feelings about his root during the disaster.
