School child commits suicide instead of facing father's punishment

A young man in Haiti has decided to commit suicide because he did not receive satisfactory grade for the semester. This took place in Delmas 19 and if you grew up in Haiti, you might be very familiar with the practice. A father threatened to get back at a child for not performing to his satisfaction at school.

According to the report, the young man was in the 9th grade at "Ecole St Martin. After reviewing his school report, the father told him to go home and wait for him with the intent to inflict some punishment. Once the the young man got home, he decided to commit suicide.

Danton Leger issued Travel interdiction to businessman Marc Antoine Acra

The new Government Commissioner, Jean Danton Léger, is not wasting any time in his new function as he is already involved in some of the most important cases in the nation. Acording to rezonodwes.com, Jean Danton Léger stated on April 5, 2016 in the popular radio station Scoop FM that he has already reviewed the case of drug found in a cargo of sugar belonging to businessman Marc Antoine Accra. He also notice several important document missing from the file. Danton Leger has issued travel interdiction for several individuals he believes can bring light on the matter, including businessman Marc Antoine Acra and a general manager in public l`administration

Major fire in Petion-Ville, look how we use our firefighters back home

A major fire took place in Petion-Vill today(April 4, 2016) causing major damages. According to some eyewitnessess, the fire started around 8:00am this morning inside a small Marche in Petion-Vill.It quickly moved and burned several houses in th area. We also the population received the help of the local firefighting unit in the area but it was not of much help. As you can see in this picture the population was transporting water from the fire fighting truck by bucket in a desperate attempt to bring the fire under control.

Don't count on Jude Celestin without a Commission of Verification

The candidate of LAPEH, Jude Celestin, who was credited for stopping the election process recently by declaring that he was not going to participate in the election without the evaluation of a Commission of Verification has not changed his mind. last Friday he clearly indicated that he will not participate in the election until a credible Commission of Verification conducts the evaluation. According to Jean Hector Anacacis, the Coordinator of LAPEH, "the country wants to know what actually happened during the last elections in Haiti and without satisfying their demands, we can't ask them for their vote"

Jean Max Bellerive, Do not expect elections in Haiti any time soon

Jean Max Bellerive who is the chief of staff to President Jocelerme Privert stated that it is impossible to conduct the elections in 24 days or on on April 24, as the agreement of March 6 requires. According to agreement signed by former President Michel Martelly, Jocelerme Privert and Cholzer Chancy, the second round of the presidential and legislative elections is supposed to be held on April 24, 2016. Some people are accusing the government of Jocelerme Privert for not moving fast enough with the election process, suggesting that they are creating all kind of tactics to remain in power past the deadline in the agreement.

Me Carlos Hercules speaking on barriers to democratic elections

Me Carlos Hercules has spoken. In his statement during the installation of the different members of the electoral authorities, the Vice Chairman and member of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) delivered a message where he is asking for a level of fairness in the entire process. According to Me Carlos Hercules, "It is unrealistic to expect the outcome of last year's elections without considering the primarily concerned". " It is impossible to obtain of electoral operators a job well done if they are not paid on time"."It is unrealistic to pretend to the holding of credible elections, honest, democratic elections if the corrupting forces did not abstain; if external forces do not refrain of trafficking of influences and to inclinations to decide in the place and instead of the holders."

Jean Danton Leger, new Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince

Jean Danton Leger has been named the new Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince and entered in function on April 1, 2016. He replaces Clamé Ocnam Daméus. As a note, this in not the first time Jean Danton Leger is Government Commissioner. He occupied this function before in the jurisdiction of Jacmel, his home town. The fifty one year old Danton Leger is also a former Deputy of Léogâne

On Friday, April 1, 2016, the former Deputy Jean Danton Léger was sworn in as the new Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince. He was sworn in by the Dean of the Court of First Instance (TPI) of Port-au-Prince, Mr. Bernard St-Vil. He was installed into his new responsibility, replacing his interim predecessor Mr. Clamé-Ocnam Daméus who was formerly appointed replacing Mr. Kerson Darius Charles after the famous trial of Sonson Lafamilia. As the new Chief of Public Prosecutions, Danton has promised to respect the image of the Justice represented by a blindfolded woman who is unbiased of the color, gender and social status of the people seeking justice before her.

Will a Commission of verification be created and if so by whom?

I see that the Government of Jocelerme Privert and Enex Jean-Charles is on its way to have the same faith as its predecessors, a government disliked by many where many in the population asking them to leave "Dechoukaj". Do you remember the slogan: " Vle Pa Vle Fok Lale "?, don't worry it will be back soon.

let's take a look ahead to see what is coming in front of the speeding train of the Privert-Jena-Charles team. Several political parties have been demanding that a Commission of Verification be established to evaluate possible fraud during the elections in 2015. However, many are opposed to the Verification Commission, it might be for good reasons. Some of those elected during these questionable elections are already in function and probably started cashing in by selling their votes.

United States against a Commission of verification

The US has spoken on the Commission of verification of electoral process in Haiti and this will likely complicate instead of solving issues. The US Ambassador in Haiti, Peter Mulrean, made it clear that his country is not in favor of the creation of a new Commission of Verification noting that this commission might be subject to political influences. However, Ambassador Mulrean would want the recommendations of the Independent Electoral Commission of Verification be implemented instead

Haiti's new CEP to be headed by Leopold Berlanger, took office

Yesterday, March 30, 2016, in an official ceremony at Haiti Cour of Cassation , the new CEP took office. It will have the task and challenge to successfully complete the election process in Haiti unlike many many other CEP before them. We also learned that this new provisional electoral council will be headed by Leopold Berlanger. The Director of Radio Vision 2000 was designated by several organizations of Haitian media to represent them. This has not been made official yet, however some sources revealed that Leopold Berlanger will be the new president of the CEP, a position previously occupied by Pierre-Louis Opont.
