Michel Stephane Bruno killed by bandit on motorcycle

Michel Stéphane Bruno who was a passionate and brilliant innovator was shot dead on wednesday around 9:25 PM at Puits Blain 17 as he was victim of a bandit attack on motorcycle. Born in Port-au-Prince on May 8, 1974, Michel Stéphane Bruno had worked for more than ten years in the field of technology. He was a leading figure in internet and ICT development in Haiti.

As usual, the Haitian authorities has opened an investigation in an attempt to capture the bandits and bring them to justice.

FLASH - curfew last night in Haiti due to possible threats

Due to credible information obtained by the Superior Council of the National Police (NUMC) about planning of large-scale acts against the life and property of the population, they have decided to ban all movement of people and vehicles in throughout Haiti from 10:00PM on Monday, June 13 until 5:00 am this Tuesday, June 14, 2016. The only vehicles allowed to travel are ambulances and those assigned to the Police department Nationale d'Haiti (PNH).

People who may be forced to move for medical reasons should contact the National Ambulance Center

FLASH - January - May 2016, 419 people murdered, 33 kidnapped in Haiti

The security continues to be a problem in Haiti. The possibility for one to be either murdered or kidnapped is real. According to the spokesman of the National Police of Haiti, Commissioner Frantz Lerebours, for the first five months in 2016 or between January and May 2016, 419 the PNH has officially recorded a total of 419 people murdered in Haiti. In January, 83 people were killed, in February: 81, March: 107, April: 80 and in May: 68. In addition, Commissioner Frantz Lerebours indicated that 33 cases of kidnapping were reported for the same period. In January, 4 reported cases of kidnapping, February: 14, March: 10, April: 3 and May: 2

Former candidate Jean Marie Liphete, shot dead in Petion-Ville

Jean Marie Liphete, who is a former Candidate for Deputy in Petit-Trou-de-Nippes under the banner PONT was shot to dead in Petion-Ville on Friday, May 27, 2016. Liphete who never accepted defeat received a little bit over 43 percent of the votes during the last election and lost to Claude Luc Guillaume from Renmin Ayiti who received 56%.

Six people arrested for the attack in Cayes Police station

The investigation on the attack of the Police Station in the city of Cayes appears to be moving with speed. On Tuesdaym may 24, 2016, six individuals were arrested by the Police, according to Chief Superintendent of the police, Marc André Cadostin. In the meantime, Minister of Justice and Security, Me Camille Edouard Junior, as well as a representative of UN MINUSTAH are expected in Cayes on May 24, 2016.

Jocelerme Privert: attacks in Cayes done by bandit, criminal and trafficker

President Jocelerme Privert set the tone in Arcahaie on May 18 for the 213th anniversary of Haiti Flag, specially and wants to send a clear signal to those interested in crime. In regard to the terror attack on the departmental police station in Les Cayes, Jocelerme Privert stated: " When a person sits in his home, asks people to take up arms and attack a police station and kill police officers, he has no other name but bandit, criminal and trafficker." He went on to say that" .......we will not tolerate anarchists, murderers, traffickers, criminals, who look to put the country in a trap. Law enforcement has the order to track down these criminals and bring them before justice."

Gunmen Wearing Green Uniforms Attacked Police Station in Cayes

Before the dawn on May 16, 2016, a group of gunmen wearing green uniforms attacked the Les Cayes police station in Haiti's southern peninsula. The assailants killed one officer and wounded at least two others before fleeing. As per Octave Jean, the chief police inspector in coastal Les Cayes, there were about 50 attackers wearing faded green uniforms that appeared to be from Haiti's disbanded military. In last February, some of these ex-soldiers, carrying rifles and pistols, clashed with a large gathering of anti-government demonstrators in Port-au-Prince which resulted in the death of one of their gang men, a veteran of the military, abolished in 1995 by Aristide because of its history of toppling governments. Earlier this month, some young men, wearing similar uniforms blocked an entrance to Haiti's defense ministry, demanding works to protect the country's border.

Kidnapping attempt on the children of Stephanie Villedrouin

No one is safe in Haiti. We just learned that there was an attempt to kidnapp the children of former Minister of Tourism in Haiti, Stéphanie Villedrouin.

Several armed men took possession of the family car that was in direction to Lycee Francais of Port-au-Prince in an attempt to kidnap her children. There was gun shots between the bandits and a police officer not in uniform. Result; two of the bandits were shot to death

Case against Sonson La Familia and Renel Lerecif reopened

The idea that you can't be judged twice for the same crime doesn't apply to Sonson La Familia and Renel Lerécif. These two will be once again prosecuted by the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince. The case has been revived by the new Government Commissioner, Jean Danton Léger.

As you may remember, the decision was taken under the government of Michel Martelly to free Woodly Ethéard alias Sonson La Familia and Renel Nelfort Renel the Reef, two members of the powerful gang "gang galil"

According to reports by the National Network of human rights (RNDDH), the gang has been involved in more than twenty cases of kidnapping.

Jean Michel Hilaire leader of gang Haute tension, arresterd in Petit-Goave

Police in Petit-Goave has wan one for the road. The Head of the famous gang "Haute tension", Jean Michel Hilaire, was arrested this week by Police in the region. The gang was specialized in ransoming vehicles, burglary, rape and shooting.

Police in Petit Goave used some innovative strategies to make the arrest. Police officer dressed as doctors were able to arrest gang leader Jean Michel Hilaire without violence.
